Fraternity Ir. Villário Zamboni - Joaçaba

The history of our fraternity began with the invitation from Br. Nelso Crestani to take part in a movement of laity linked to the Marist Family. The foundation took place on 12 August 1999 at the Marist school Frei Rogério, in Joaçaba, SC. The group chose the name of « Fraternity Irmão Villário Zamboni » in homage to an exemplary Brother of the Joaçaba community.

The Fraternity, animated by Terezinha Campanholo, functioned up to the end of 1999. For various reasons, it ceased operation, and then was reconstituted in 2004, thanks especially to the effort of Br. Nelso Cretani, from members of the previous group and some new ones. So we have been in existence six or seven years. The principal progress has been in organisation and in growth in the spirituality of Saint Marcellin Champagnat and of  Mary, Our Good Mother.

Among the joys of our group, we underline the friendship among the members, prayer, reflection, spiritual growth, and perseverance despite difficulties. Prayer and union have brought us, and are still bringing us, comfort along the way. The conspicuous presence of the Marist Brothers, of Br. Nelso particularly, has a lot to do with that.

As for professions, they cover many fields: education, commerce, public service, teaching… There is a home, and the women are most numerous in the group. We are always open to new members.

Our meetings are held once a month, by turns, in the homes of the members of the Fraternity or in the Marist residence. During these meetings, we always lean on the four pillars: prayer, reflection, life in common and apostolate.

There is a certain concern because of the change of co-ordination of the fraternity, which has taken place three times. The fraternity is capable of providing for its needs; it has also the joy of helping the destitute.

The members feel called to organise themselves better by involving themeselves in the correspondence, the library, and the material animation of the meetings. We live out our apostolate in the family or the profession. With the grace of God and Saint Marcellin, all take part in Church ministries and movements.

It seems to us that the most significant achievements for the consolidation of the Fraternity are perseverance and the assiduous presence of Br. Nelso, who brings us the  messages and teachings of Saint Marcellin.

The members of the Fraternity are: Adiles M. Moritz, Ana Chiamulera Schmautz, Elida Lucia Pedri, Fernando Schmautz, Hélen Aline Jacinto, Imar Maria Pigatto Dacena, Br. Nelso Crestani, Br. Wilson Backes, Lourdes Maria Grigolo, Luana Schmautz, Marizete Zílio, Murilo Moritz Parize, Sergio Luiz Schmautz, Silvana T. Cortina, Thalis Moritz Parize and Yomara Solange Moritz.
