Fraternity Laimar Champagnat

Bogotá - Colombia
Prov. Norandina
Created on 2002 - 12

Fraternity Laimar Champagnat - Bogotá

The fraternity is composed of 12 persons teaching at the Champagnat College: Clara Beatriz Rivera, Isabel Beltrán, Alicia Méndez, Edith Ávila, Elizabeth Panche, Floridiana Pérez, Nubia Sánchez, Ninfa Navarro Luís Eduardo Fonseca, Mauricio Pérez, Nubia Sánchez and William Núñez.

The meetings are held on the first Friday of the month. They include times for prayer and for formation, making use of modules, aspects of daily life, and review of life. Contributions are made to the solidarity project, and the meeting concludes with a light refreshment.

Membership is permanent, with a commitment to being a «Champagnat educator». This year, we have received 4 teachers, interested in taking part in the formation. It is important to emphasize that we have drawn benefit from the accompaniment of Brothers Cesar Rojas and Ramón Benseny, who have supported us with their reflections on the meaning and import of belonging to the « Lay Marist fraternity».

Among our challenges: to consolidate and enlarge the group and continue our spiritual formation, by taking part in a retreat and attending talks on this important subject.

At each meeting, it is agreed to direct the work in accordance with the skills of the one  responsible for running it.

It was in 2002 that the « CHAMPAGNAT » solidarity project began in Sibundoy, Putumayo, and we continue to help with school textbooks. Each year up to the present, this area invites the educational community of Champagnat Bogotá to take part in a positive way. School texts and other books are distributed according to an inventory for the benefit of the children and those following the evening courses. It is important to emphasize that the books sent have permitted the organization of the children’s library. These books reach the families via the mobile library.
