Vocational mission in Sierra Tarahumara

06/05/2012: Mexico

Holy Week, a privileged time for sharing life, such was the attitude of the Marist aspirants who were bold in responding to the invitation to live this time in the Sierra Tarahumara with our indigenous brothers.

Seven aspirants accompanied by six brothers and the two postulants of our province (in total a group of 15 missionaries) took part in the experience of the Rarámuri Holy Week. The group shared life in two communities close to the town of Turuachi (zone of Chinatú), where some lived in the boarding hostel, others in the house of a local family.

They lived brotherhood in the same community in the local style, providing support in activities in preparation for baptism, catechesis of children, animating Holy Week celebrations, living the experience which leads them to see Christ suffering among the poorest and the people who suffer, but also the Risen Christ who sows hope in the hearts of his children.

The objective of the experience was that the young men continue on their journey of discernment towards a decision to enter a house of formation. With some close in time to join the postulancy, we continue praying that the Risen Christ accompany our young vocations and grant us more Marist brothers.

We continue encouraging our aspirants to be faithful to what God has sown in their hearts and we pray for them.
