Br Christian Mbam will take part in the project

23/08/2012: South Sudan

The project Solidarity with the South Sudan (SSS), born of a request from the Conference of Bishops of South Sudan, is currently supported by more than 200 congregations of women and men religious, members of the International Union of (women) Superiors General (UISG) and the Union of (men) Superiors General (USG).

The initiative, centred on the fields of health, agriculture and teacher training, expresses a new paradigm of collaboration between the congregations to respond in a more effective way to the immense and urgent needs of this country.

At present, the project counts 5 intercongregational communities, with 30 men and women religious coming from 17 different congregations.

Starting in January 2013, Br Christian Mbam, of the province of Nigeria, will take part in this project, representing the Marist Institute, with a three year contract. Our Secretariat “International Collaboration for Mission (CMI)” is accompanying this process, and studying the possibility that some volunteers (brothers or laity) could offer short term collaboration.
