The first course on school bullying, bullying and cyberbullying ends

The first online course of the Pontifical University of Salamanca, developed by the Instituto de Estudios Maristas and the Instituto de Ciencias de la Educación of the same university – on school bullying, bullying and cyberbullying has ended, with the support of the Compostela and Mediterránea provinces. 

In a few months, a book will also be published that collects information that the course has obtained to encourage further consultation and research.

The course had the collaboration of the faculty of PantallasAmigas, the Policía Nacional, the Guardia Civil, the Policía Local de Salamanca, the Grupo Edelvives and the Red Internacional de Investigación en Derecho Educativo (RIIDE).

Titled ‘Acoso escolar, bullying y ciberbullying. Hacia la mejora de la convivencia y la ciudadanía digital’ (School bullying, bullying and cyberbullying. Towards the improvement of coexistence and digital citizenship), it included 10 seminars held from Feb. 27 – May 7.

The goal is to decrease the 9.3% of school bullying that, according to a report of Save the Children of 2015, takes place in Spain.

The seminars covered the topics of violence, school bullying and coexistence, bullying, cyberbullying and cyber-survival; school coexistence and its pedagogy; values and citizenship; plans and coexistence programmes such as: master plan, cyberexpert programme, tutor agent and the programme for improving coexistence and communicative competence (MCCC); coexistence and peace in the educational law; school mediation; network security: impersonation, theft, espionage and advanced attacks; resources for peace and coexistence; digital citizenship; social networks and security forces and bodies; legal and penal aspects.

According to the Instituto de Estudios Maristas, “a main challenges was the configuration of an interdisciplinary and delocalized teaching team” for parents, educators, agents of socio-educational institutions, NGOs and other organizations.
