Pastoral for Children: identity, paths and senses

31/12/1969: Brazil

"Pastoral for Children: identity, paths and senses" is the name of the document that seeks to align projects and pastoral actions directed at children from 0 to 12 years of age in the mission spaces of the Marist Network (Marist Province of Brazil South-Amazon). The proposal consists in structuring the Pastoral Care of Children, systematizing what is already being done and discovering new possibilities.

According to Maria Inete Rocha Maia, Pastoral Advisor of the Marist Network, the objective is to contribute to the development of the faith of the contemporary child and to establish bases where the pastoral care of children needs an attentive look and a conscious, organized and procedural action.

"We want to bring our pastoral action ever closer to the new times of evangelising education for children, and to contribute to educators and pastoralists seeing the pedagogical-pastoral processes in the light of faith," explains Maria, adding that the document recalls the original mission of the Marist Institute, promotes understanding of the world of children and points out ways for renewed pastoral action.
