Work for the 4th phase of the International Forum on the Lay Marist Vocation

Organized by the Secretariat of the Laity of the Institute, the first (virtual) meeting of the 24 people who will continue the process of reflection of the International Forum on the Lay Marist Vocation, in its phase 4, took place on June 1.

All of them participated in the face-to-face phase held in Rome last November 2022, and have been proposed by the General Council for the work of this phase 4, with some face-to-face and some virtual meetings. This group of lay men and women, plus several brothers from all regions of the Institute, will be addressing some of the topics that emerged in the message “Ruah: Breaths of the Spirit for the Marist Laity”, which will be translated into concrete proposals and answers to some of the questions that arose at the on-site Forum in Rome.

Its work will consist of developing a strategy to reach the Virtual Forum of November 2024 (phase 5) and making a concrete and consensual proposal to be submitted to the General Council and the XIII General Chapter of 2025.

The work dynamics of this working group will involve forming a single team, working on two reflection areas: the first on identity, training and bonding, and the second on legal structures. Operationally, they will work in five groups. There will also be a collaborative digital platform where each of the people who were delegated by their Administrative Units for last year’s Forum can also make their contributions and suggestions.

The next meeting will be held in person at the General House in Rome from July 6 to 12, 2023.
