A Man like Champagnat

On May 1st Br Georges Pitiot was farewell by his friends and especially by the Association of Vanuatu Students studying in New Caledonia. The French Brother left the District of Melanesia after 51 years of mission. Br Georges was one of the founding people of the Association of the Vanuatu Students when he was in Santo.

The students, who were present during that day, represent many others who were not there and are already working in different place in Vanuatu and in New Caledonia. They expressed their sincere thanks to Br Georges for all the hard works, supports and times that he had put to help the ex-student of St Michel continued their studies in different colleges and universities in New Caledonia.

It was indeed a time of blessing as they witnessed someone who had dedicated his whole life in the service of young people of Vanuatu and New Caledonia.

class=imgshadowOne of the main words that they describe Br Georges with is “JOY”. They see in Br Georges someone who had lived joyfully and faithfully his religious life. His presence at St Michel School and at Lololima in Port Vila had touched the lives of many young people.

Br Georges is a hardworking man who loves the soil, likes to make his hands dirty to provide food for everyone. He is a man of prayer who dedicates his life to teach young people to become good Christians.

It is in the same way that I would like to thank Br Georges on behalf of the District of Melanesia. I thank Br Georges for being part of the District, for the joy that he brings into our lives whenever we come together as Brothers for a gathering. His interest and desire to be part of the lives of the young Brothers and the life of the District into the future is very much appreciated and treasured by every one of us Marists of the District of Melanesia.

We wish him all God’s blessings and very good health as he returns back to France.

Br Georges we will continue to pray for you and thank God for your gift to the District of Melanesia and for what you had planted in the lives of so many people especially the young people in Vanuatu and New Caledonia.

May God bless you Br Georges.
