All roads lead to Gier 2023

We share below the testimony of Brother Dener Rodrigues de Souza, from the Province of Brasil Centro-Norte, about his experience in the ongoing formation course Gier 2023, which ended last July 28. The formation program, under the coordination of the Secretariat of Brothers Today and directed by Brothers Tony Leon and Jos├ę Miguel Caballero, was attended by 28 young brothers who followed a two-month program lived in the General House and in Marist places in France.

_______________

“All roads lead to each other
All paths walk for us to find ourselves.”
(Maria Gad├║
)

I am 32 years old and four years ago I made my perpetual religious profession in the Institute. Today I contribute to the Marist mission in the management service of the Marist School in Macei├│, Brazil.

The Gier experience was for me a moment of seeing, feeling and trusting the grace of God that has been manifested and still continues to operate in the history of the Marist Institute. The feeling is that all my Marist life has directed me to this encounter and that is why I paraphrase the Brazilian singer Maria Gad├║ saying, “all roads lead to the Gier.”

To step on the ground where it all began is refreshing. And to share this with 18 brothers from different countries is to confirm the universality of Marcellin’s call to follow Jesus in the footsteps of Mary; it is to affirm that we are indeed a global family; we build an international and intercultural fraternity, we come closer to Champagnat and the first brothers.

Like them, before the Virgin of Fourvi├Ęre, we place our dreams and firm our commitment to our vocation and the vitality of the Institute.

To the Secretariat of Brothers Today our gratitude for giving us this moment of grace. We return to our places of mission prepared and renewed in our Marist Consecrated Life.

May God bless and protect us. May the Good Mother keep us and keep us. And may Champagnat accompany and inspire us.
