América Sur Region
An encounter aimed at programming and preparing a path towards a new beginning for the América Sur region took place from May 19 – 21 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which included discussions on a new novitiate.
Participants included Brothers Rubens Falqueto (Brasil Centro-Norte), Sebastião Ferrarini (Brasil Sul-Amazônia), Otalívio Sarturi (Brasil Centro-Sul), Isidro Azpeleta (Santa María de los Andes), Raúl Schönfeld (Cruz del Sur) and Marcos Denevi (a lay from Cruz del Sur).
They reflected and were in dialogue for three days, laying the groundwork for the experience of the novitiate and elaborating the criteria that will lead to the formation plan.
They were enlightened by the Constitutions, the Formation Guide, the International Marist Colloquium on Initial Formation (L’Hermitage 2015), the Final Document on Initial Formation of the Inter-American Sub-commission of Brothers (CIAP), and by their own formation and experience.
The new novitiate will begin in 2017, with the participation of the five provinces of the new region, América Sur, as part of an interprovincial, intercultural and international proposal (Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Chile and Peru).
Further decisions on the formation plan, the place for the novitiate and the formation community will take place during the following months.
