Annual meeting of the Committee and Council of the Arco Norte Region

A series of key meetings for the future of the Arco Norte Region were held in Costa Rica from January 13 to 19. Representing the General Administration were Brothers João Carlos do Prado, General Councilor, and Goyo Linacero, project manager of the General Administration’s Strategic Plan, who is accompanying the regional committee as part of the Region’s articulation project.

The Arco Norte Regional Committee, made up of the heads of the nine regional teams, met from January 13 to 16. One of the objectives of the meeting was to evaluate the progress and achievements of the 2021-2024 period. A proposal for the revision of the regional structure was also discussed, as well as the strategic planning for the future, which will be aligned with the new guidelines emanating from the next General Chapter. The meeting was attended by Brother Al Rivera, from the Province of the United States, the new Executive Secretary of the region since the beginning of the year, replacing Brother Rodrigo Espinosa. New members of the team were also Brother Javier Peña, responsible for the Brothers Today team, and Fabiola del Monte, from the Evangelization team. The new Spirituality and Solidarity teams were also formed at this meeting.

Then, from January 17 to 19, the Regional Council, made up of the superiors of the six Administrative Units of the region, met. The Council continued the dialogue on the regional strategy, deepening the themes addressed by the Committee. The Council also met with the Committee on January 15.

The meeting in Costa Rica was an important moment to chart the course for the Northern Arc Region in the coming years. Participants showed great commitment and enthusiasm to continue building a stronger and more effective Marist community in the region. Among the objectives achieved at the meeting, the following can be highlighted:

  • Regional strategic planning for the coming years was consolidated.
  • Teamwork and collaboration among the different actors was strengthened.
  • The leadership of several teams was renewed, guaranteeing the continuity and dynamism of the mission.
  • The commitment to the Marist mission of “Building Bridges, Transforming Lives” as a Region of Arco Norte was reaffirmed.
