Br. Horacio José María Bustos appointed provincial of Cruz del Sur
In a letter sent, on August 15, to the brothers of the Cruz del Sur Province, Br. Ernesto Sánchez, Superior General, reported that the General Council, after studying the survey carried out in the province, appointed Br. Horacio José María Bustos as provincial of Cruz del Sur, for a period of three years.
In the letter, dated August 15, Brother Ernesto Sánchez, Superior General, thanked Br. Horacio Bustos for accepting the animation of the province. “Your experience in this service a few years ago, as well as your preparation and service in formation, will be of great help to accompany the province in the current context,” he said. The Superior General also thanked Br. Raúl Schönfeld for his provincial leadership service in two trienniums: “Thank you, Raúl, for your closeness to the people, your fraternity and your dedication to the Province throughout these six years.”
Br. Horacio José will take office at the next Provincial Chapter, which will take place from November 6 to 9, 2024, in the Marist Village of Pilar, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Br. Horacio José María Bustos
Brother Horacio José María Bustos Kessler, former provincial of Cruz del Sur, from 2009 to 2012, was born on March 28, 1962, in Paraná, Argentina. He did his Juniorate in Luján, his novitiate in Villa La Bolsa (Córdoba) and the Scholasticate in Buenos Aires.
In 1996 he was a professor at the Summer School for Formators, in the city of Córdoba. From 1997 to 2006 he was director and professor at the Marist Higher Institute – ISMA. In 2003 he obtained a bachelor’s degree in educational management. Later, he completed his doctorate in Psychology from the University of Salvador, in Buenos Aires. Then he was provincial from 2009 to 2012 (first period).
Brother Horacio J. M. Bustos has worked as general director of the Manuel Belgrano Marist School in the city of Buenos Aires and legal representative at the San Rafael School, in Mendoza.
Currently, he is the General Director of the ‘Domingo Savio’ Institute of the city of Neuquén and completes his mission by coordinating the CEMOE (Specialized Manpower Center for young people and adults) “Marcelino Champagnat” in its two headquarters: Barrio Islas Malvinas and San Lorenzo neighborhood, on the outskirts of the city of Neuquén. He is also Superior Community Animator (2022 -2024).
