« Brasil Centro-Norte »
The meeting of the pastoral teams and co-ordinators of the Province of « Brasil Centro-Norte » took place from 8 to 12 April in the « Recanto Marista » (Remar) at Ribeirão das Neves (MG). The participants reflected on evangelization, essence of the Marist mission. It was a time for evaluating the pastoral journey through the 2010 to 2012 term, placing the accent also on the perspectives for the next three years. The sharing, reflection and celebration took place in an atmosphere of fraternity and hopefulness.
The delegations were welcomed by the pastoral team of the « Dom Silvério » Marist school and the Marist school of Contagem. The Provincial, Br Wellington Medeiros, warmly welcomed the participants. The Provincial was accompanied by Claudia Laureth (Social), Jaqueline de Jesus (Education), and Paulo de Tarso Mattos Ferreira, director of « Dom Silvério », in Belo Horizonte
The meeting was punctuated by intense times of prayer, guided by Fr Mirim Borges. His presence at all the activities contributed new zeal to the teams’ pastoral mission.
The group was inspired by the prayer and reflection on the pastoral situation of the regional and provincial Units, by the method of see (look at the reality), judge (throw light on the reality), act (project the reality) and celebrate (thank God for what has been achieved), placing the accent on the strong points, the weaknesses and the future perspectives.
Br Luiz André da Silva was moderator for the round table in which Br Afonso Murad, Maristela Tezza and Fr Manoel José de Godoy took part. They motivated reflection on the theme of the Synod of Bishops: « The new evangelization for the transmission of the Christian faith ». Part of the debate turned on the pastoral practice in the Units and served as motivation for further reflections.
The meeting was dynamised by the teams by region. In the groups, the pastoral agents reflected on the works and made a summary of them which was presented at the plenary session. They also exchanged on the objectives of each section of the Pastoral Committee (Education, Youth and Child Catechesis).
