Bringing Christmas to Aleppo: A Simple Act of Kindness

This Christmas season, a small gesture can have a profound impact on families in Aleppo, a city still grappling with the aftermath of years of conflict and devastation. For just €6, a liter of oil will be included in food baskets distributed to 1,100 families in vulnerable conditions. This initiative, coordinated by the Blue Marists in Aleppo and promoted by Marist Foundation for International Solidarity (FMSI), serves as a lifeline for those struggling to meet basic needs during the holiday season, embodying the true spirit of Marist solidarity and our shared commitment as a Global Family.

Aleppo, once a thriving cultural and economic hub, has faced unimaginable hardship over the past decade. Years of civil war have left the city in ruins, and many families continue to live in dire poverty, with limited access to food, healthcare, and basic supplies. In this context, the Blue Marists, a network of more than 155 volunteers, have worked tirelessly to provide humanitarian assistance, delivering essential goods and offering emotional support to those in need, adults and children.

This year, the mission focuses on distributing food baskets, each containing one liter of oil. With the goal of reaching 1,100 families, this campaign seeks to provide some relief and warmth during the cold winter months. The need for oil is particularly critical, as it plays a vital role in daily cooking and sustenance. Every contribution makes a tangible difference, ensuring that families in Aleppo can have a meal on the table and comfort during the holidays.

The fundraising initiative is simple to support. Donations can be made through a bank transfer to the FMSI account:

  • IBAN: IT81 S 05018 03200 0000 1708 2033
  • BIC/SWIFT: ETICIT22XXX
  • Reference: AIULAS

The deadline for contributions is December 20, 2024.

As Aleppo continues to recover from the scars of war, the need for solidarity and support is greater than ever. This Christmas, even the smallest donation can help bring hope and dignity to those facing uncertainty. Through collective action, the spirit of Marist solidarity and the bonds of our global family can shine brightly, providing a beacon of light to those in need. Together, we can make a real difference and offer a brighter future to the families of Aleppo.
