Called to bear fruit
We came together on Saturday 21st March in the parish of "Notre-Dame Immaculée" in Brussels. There were 32 of us present at this day which was organised by the "Communion Brothers – Lay People" commission on the theme "Called to bear fruit" – Brothers, lay people from the Marist groups and fraternities of Belgium, as well as some new faces from the parish.
Having been warmly welcomed by members of the Brussels Champagnat Group, we read three parables of the "sowing of the seed" from Saint Mark`s Gospel, and then shared our own thoughts on what had touched us about the life of Marcellin: his great confidence in God and in Mary, his enthusiasm for work, his great humility, his limitless devotion, his fervent prayer, his enthusiasm for spreading the Gospel, his desire to do the will of God, etc.
After a lunch in the Community Centre, we allowed Saint Paul to remind us of the gifts of the Spirit. During the final Eucharist, celebrated in the Parish Church with music from the local choir, we had the opportunity – by putting fruit into a basket – to express our desire to do even more in the days ahead.
We each returned home, happy to have experienced this marvellous Marist gathering, and in the hope that many of us would come together on the day dedicated to the Consecrated Life on Sunday 26th April at Banneux, and at the meeting of groups and fraternities, with Brother Alain Delorme, on Saturday 27th October 2015.
