Christmas in Cuba

The two communities which make up the Marist Brothers? mission in Cuba organized Christmas celebrations for the barrio population. The celebrations included reflection, songs, music and theatre. In the city of Cienfuegos, an FMS community was founded in 2001, and now has three Brothers and two aspirants in residence. On the night of December 20, the community brought together about one hundred people, most of them children. The Havana community, located in the Cotorro neighborhood, opened in 2007 and now has three Brothers and one novice. In the evening of December 23rd they managed to gather a group of about sixty people: adults, youth people and children.

Brother Antonio Ramalho, Councilor General, attended both celebrations while he was on visit to the communities from December 19 to 25. The Marist Brothers? mission in Cuba is still dependent upon the General Administration, but is hoping to become part of the Central America Province within the next few months.
