Coming to Understand our Role as Marists
During the week of April 10th, 2016 over 20 individuals representing the different Marist Schools located in the states of New York, Florida, Texas, New Jersey and Massachusetts as well as representatives from Camp Marist in Canada came together to discuss, learn and explore their identity as Marist Educators and Camp Councilors. It was a rich experience for teachers and councilors to come together to not only share and discuss their current realities and their ministry and experiences with young people but more importantly the program provided an opportunity for the participants to discuss, learn and grow in their identity as Marists.
During the course of the conference a variety of presentations were given by both Brothers and Lay Marists that invited the participants to reflect on the following topics:
* St. Marcellin Champagnat, Founder and Educator
* Marist Apostolic Spirituality
* Characteristics of a Marist School
* The Marist Educator: Practical Applications
* Understanding the Present Youth Culture
* Responding to my Call: Becoming Marist.
The days of the conference were filled with good food, fun and moments for private prayer and reflection as well as opportunities for the participants to share their experience and create a bond that was rooted in Marist family spirit.
This is the 34th session of the Sharing Our Call 1 program within the Province of the United States. These Marist men and women join over 800 participants that have made the program since its inception in the fall of 1998.
