Coordinating and encouraging the development of the CHMMF in Europe
The representatives of the Champagnat Movement of the Marist Family, lay people and brothers, met in El Escorial from 28th to 30th September, 2007. It was our first meeting.
Last year we had had an encounter of all the European fraternities in Alcalá de Henares. Then the idea arose of establishing a council of representatives of all the fraternities in the five European Provinces.
This council is formed by Annie Girka (LHermitage), Carmina Romo (Compostela), Frank Aumeier (West Central Europe), Ana Sarrate (Ibérica), Julio López (Mediterránea) and Pau Fornells as a representative of the Bureau of Laity. We also count on Brother Jesús Alberto for the translation service.
Our mission consists of reflecting and animating the lay movement of the fraternities.
As a general objective we chose the one of coordinating and encouraging the development of the CHMMF in Europe and as more specific objectives: maintaining a database of the members of all the fraternities, exchanging formation materials and experiences, being aware of the common needs of the CHMMF always related to all the Marists geographical areas and to the Bureau of Laity of the Institute.
We invite all the lay people in the fraternities to take an active part in the dynamism that sprouts from the Marist spirit transmitted to us by our founder Marcellin Champagnat.
