East Asia Province and the Philippine Sector
The East Asia Province and the Philippine Sector celebrated on August 16, 2014 the Diamond Jubilee of Br. Fernando Armendez, the Golden Jubilee of Br. Briccio Baynosa, Br. Teodulo Fernandez and Br. Edilberto Mallorca, and the Silver Jubilee of Br. Dominador Santiago.
Orlando Cardinal Quevedo, OMI, DD, Archbishop of Cotabato, said the Mass at the Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Lagao, General Santos City, with the theme, “His love is everlasting.” Brothers, including those from the Marist District of Asia, formands, the members of the Marist Family, religious from other congregations, some diocesan priests, mission partners from the different ministries, families of the brothers and friends graced the occasion. Luncheon followed at the Notre Dame of Dadiangas University Integrated Basic Education Gym.
Br. Fernando, who will soon turn 89, is still very active in his little garden; he lives in Lagao. Br. Briccio is currently assigned in Jolo while Br. Teodulo, former provincial, is the house superior of the Lagao community and is, among others, in charge of the formation of Temporary Professed Brothers in Active Ministy. Br. Edilberto is working in our alternative apostolate in Buda. Br. Dominador now belongs to the Marist District of Asia and is presently stationed in Saigon.
Indeed, the 60 years in religious life of Br. Fernando, the 50 years in religious life of Br. Briccio, Br. Teodulo and Br. Edilberto and the 25 years in religious life of Br. Dominador confirm what Psalm 36 proclaims, “Your love, o Lord, reaches to the heavens; your faithfulness to the skies.”
