Five Young Haitians Make First Vows in Dame-Marie
On June 20, we were five Brothers – Adelson, Beaudel, Fabrice, Elysée and Parnel – who decided to offer our ?yes? to the Lord, in a very symbolic ceremony that took place in the presence of our Brothers, our families and our friends. Through the profession ceremony, we consecrated ourselves to HIM, thinking of the passage of the prophet Ezechiel which reads: ?I will take from your bodies your stony hearts and give you natural hearts? (Ez. 36:26).
The profession was celebrated at the parish of Our Lady of the Nativity in the city of Dame-Marie. A Marist old boy, Father Pierre Roland Bien-Aimé, presided at both the Mass and the profession.
When the Mass was over, everyone went over to the Marist school where we had a wonderful celebration with families, friends and invited guests. During the party, there was a very special activity in which family members related something about the life of each of the newly professed. In doing so, they offered words of support and inspiration as a way of encouraging the newly professed upon the path they have undertaken.
Now that we have professed our vows before God and within the Marist Institute, we move on to the Scholasticate with the same enthusiastic desire of working together to build the kingdom of heaven, and of serving the children and young people of today, especially the least favored. The Lord has filled us with peace and love in following him, so that we may also love the way of life our Founder has shown us, calling us to live a life of community and of prayer.
