FMSI conducted formation on Project Management and Fundraising
FMSI, in collaboration with the Secretariat of Solidarity-Cmi, successfully conducted the second edition of its training course on Project Management and Fundraising for both religious and lay personnel in Asia, Madagascar, and Syria.
74 participants from 24 countries gathered for this second edition. This initiative reflected the shared commitment of FMSI and the Secretariat to strengthening Capacity Building programs that enhance collective development and solidarity efforts. It also aligned with the broader vision of moving beyond charity-based, individual initiatives toward a cooperative, systemic approach focused on sustainable development and systemic change.
Held between October and November 2024, the program provided participants with essential skills in project design, financial reporting, and effective program development. These tools were grounded in principles of long-term planning, alignment with provincial strategic goals, results-oriented approaches, and sound financial practices.
Delivered online and completely free of charge, the program employed diverse methods, including presentations, group discussions, learning strategies, and practical applications. Participants who achieved a minimum of 75% attendance were awarded a certificate of participation.
The training covered three key modules:
- Module 1: Focused on strategic project design using a results-oriented approach, integrating the theory of change, transitioning from projects to long-term programmes, and developing performance indicators with tools like the 2×2 Matrix.
- Module 2: Addressed financial aspects, including budget creation, financial monitoring, reporting processes, common pitfalls, and crafting multi-donor, multi-year fundraising plans with practical examples.
- Module 3: Centered on peer reviews of successful fundraising plans, refining performance indicators, and group activities to design strategic projects.
The training emphasized the significance of sustainability and fundraising as shared responsibilities within a global ecosystem. This marks the 6th Capacity Building initiative on Project Management and Strategic Fundraising organized by FMSI and the Secretariat of Solidarity-Cmi in the past two years, with 327 participants from over 40 countries. This strong participation underscores the vital role of investing in capacity building as an essential component of the Marist Mission.
