FMSI Launches Urgent Fundraising Campaign for Lebanon
The campaign launched by the Marist Foundation for International Solidarity (FMSI) is aimed at protecting the rights of children in the context of a deep humanitarian crisis by supporting the Fratelli Project.
The humanitarian crisis in Lebanon has escalated to critical levels as the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah continues to devastate the country. Since the eruption of hostilities on September 23, large areas across Lebanon—especially the South, Bekaa Valley, and Beirut—have been severely impacted. With over 2,100 lives lost, more than 10,000 injured, and an alarming 1.2 million people displaced, Lebanon is facing one of the most severe crises in recent history. Thousands of families, children, and entire communities are in dire need of assistance.
In situations like this, it is always the ones who live in the most vulnerable conditions who suffer the highest toll—especially children, many of whom are already in precarious situations as refugees, without stable homes or documents, and in constant forced mobility. Recognizing the depth and urgency of this crisis, the Marist International Solidarity Foundation (FMSI) has launched a targeted fundraising campaign to support the Fratelli Project, an initiative that, despite the risks, remains dedicated to aiding those most affected by the conflict. Working closely with the Fratelli Council, the Fratelli Project is committed to providing essential support to individuals and families bearing the brunt of this emergency, offering them a semblance of relief, dignity, and hope.
The Fratelli Project’s Vital Support Amid Crisis
The Fratelli Project’s longstanding commitment to Lebanon’s most vulnerable populations is more critical than ever in this time of need. Through the tireless efforts of its team, the project is able to offer direct, life-changing support to communities facing immense distress. The Fratelli Project’s current activities include:
- Daily Educational Space for Children: Each day, around 50 children find a safe haven at the Fratelli Project’s educational space. Here, they can engage in safe play, experience a moment of normalcy, and receive a nutritious snack, which is essential for their health and well-being. This safe environment is especially important for children who have experienced the trauma of displacement and insecurity.
- Family Visits and Psychological Support: The Fratelli team conducts regular visits to families to listen, assess their needs, and provide psychological and social support. These visits are crucial in addressing the emotional and psychological trauma that the conflict has inflicted on countless families.
- Distribution of Humanitarian Aid: To help alleviate the suffering of displaced families, the Fratelli Project distributes critical supplies such as mattresses, food, and hygiene products. This humanitarian aid provides immediate relief for families who have lost their homes and livelihoods due to the ongoing violence.
How You Can Make a Difference
This campaign is specifically dedicated to supporting the Fratelli Project. The Province of Mediterranea has mobilized its network to launch a nationwide fundraising initiative that benefits the entire Marist presence in Lebanon, including two schools: this effort is focused exclusively on the Fratelli Project. In partnership with the LaSalle Foundation, FMSI pledges that 100% of the funds raised will go directly to those in need through the Fratelli Project—no management fees or commissions will be deducted.
