FMSI visits Palawan and General Santos
The Marist International Solidarity Foundation (FMSI), during October, had the privilege of visiting the Province of East Asia in the Philippines, where Andrea Rossi and Eleonora Gastaldello had the opportunity to witness firsthand the inspiring work being carried out in the spirit of solidarity. Their journey took them to two remarkable projects that are transforming the lives of children and communities in vulnerable situations.
The first stop was to Palawan, where FMSI visited a Marist community working closely with children from indigenous groups. This project is committed to preserving the cultural heritage and rights of these communities while ensuring access to quality education and social services. The initiative empowers these young people to embrace their identity and builds a brighter future through education and community engagement.
Next, the team of FMSI travelled to the Marcellin Center in General Santos, a beacon of hope for children in conflict with the law. This center provides not only a safe space for rehabilitation and education but also a chance for these young people to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society with dignity and confidence. It was humbling to see the dedication of the staff and the holistic approach they take to support the personal growth and development of each child.
This visit was not only an eye-opening experience for the FMSI’s team but also a learning opportunity that deepened its understanding of the realities faced by these communities. The commitment of the Province of East Asia to social justice and the rights of children is truly inspiring.
FMSI is eager to strengthen the collaboration and support for these projects, contributing to their sustainability and impact. The Institute’s General Administration Foundation looks forward to continuing the journey alongside the Marist family in the Philippines, working together to build a world where every child is valued, protected, and given the opportunity to thrive.
