Fondazione Marista per la Solidarietà Internazionale
The emergency in the Philippines continues and the collection of funds from the Marist world continues. FMSI at present has available 29.000 Euro, fruit in good part of the Marist Provinces of America Centrale and the United States but also of the generosity of many individuals of various countries who have offered their contribution through our web site.
We are in constant contact with the Marist Brothers of the Philippinesthrough their Superior Br Manny de Leon, to be brought up to date and to know how to make use of the money collected. Br Manny is monitoring the situation, in dialogue with the dioceses and local organizations, trying to locate the most efficient and secure channel for bringing aid to the victims ofCyclone Haiyan. One channel located just after the disaster is represented by the Oblate Sisters of Notre Dame, who are assisting families and children who have lost everything. Then it is the Sagip Ka 2000 Foundation, a foundation connected to the Marist world which has proposed to be the collection point for basic commodities and medicines for distribution to the victims of the typhoon through the Red Cross.
But the local population has also been active with initiatives of various kinds for collecting funds; we signal the charity marathon Run2Help… For Yolanda Victims, organized by people belonging to the Marist world at the end of November.
