Fondazione Marista per la Solidarietà Internazionale
The new micro-projects of FMSI have been launched. These are the first solidarity initiatives of 2012, approved in January during the first evaluation session of the year and financed in recent days. In a more specific way, the Foundation’s contribution will go to support:
– the redevelopment of the premises of the Catholic Church Students’ Centre in Phnom Penh, Cambodia;
– the « Extended Day Programme » of the 'Guadalupe' Regional Middle School in Brownsville, Texas, USA;
– the purchase of musical instruments for the youth of the Centre Jean-Paul II of Tobin, Cameroun, and of the Marist school, Marcellin Champagnat, in Korhogo, Ivory Coast;
– a training course in the techniques of journalism and communication, for the benefit of disadvantaged youth in the Catholic school, « Sr Shirley Kolmer ». The course will serve to complete the education acquired at the school and to develop other skills, more professional, towards future employment;
– the purchase of seats and furniture for the school, « Colonia Nueva Ilamatepec », at Santa Ana, El Salvador;
– the activities of the School of Peace of Sant'Egidio in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Micro-projects are the little initiatives which the Foundation supports with its own funds throughout the world, in favour of disadvantaged children and young people, in the areas of human rights, education, health and social development, preferably in countries where the Marist Brothers are present. These projects are aimed at promoting children’s rights and creating the material conditions for them to be able to make real use of them.
