Formation Programme for International and Intercultural Communities

The Institute is inviting candidates for International and Intercultural Communities to participate in a training program from May 24 to July 5, 2023, which will be held in Italy and, the last week, in France. The program, in previous years, was aimed at the communities of the Lavalla200> project. Starting in 2023, the focus of the formation opens up and a program aimed at International and Intercultural Communities will be offered. In this way, new realities and initiatives of the Institute that have an international, interprovincial, and intercongregational character will be expanded and integrated. The experiential dimension will be guaranteed and the balance between community life and mission will be maintained.

The formation program is aimed at Marists, brothers and lay people, who wish to participate in the International Communities for a New Beginning – Lavalla200>; invited participants from other initiatives of the Institute: Fratelli Project (Lebanon and Colombia), Hermitage Community, Solidarity with South Sudan; Brothers and lay people who participate or will participate in an international or intercultural community, at provincial or regional level; possible participation of some people from other congregations.

Under the coordination of Brother Valdícer Fachi, director of the Department of Collaboration for Mission, International (Cmi), the program has the following objectives for each participant:

  • Be able to discern his/her motivations for international and intercultural life and mission.
  • Gain a deeper appreciation of cultural diversity, and understand the personal challenges faced in interculturally living.
  • Develop new competences, skills, and a spirituality for intercultural living.

Interested people may contact the Brother Provincial or District Superior, or the Superior General directly, introducing themselves and explaining their motivation and their desire to commit themselves to one of the Institute’s Projects or initiatives. It is possible to contact CMI, in case of doubts, using the following e-mail address: [email protected]
