General Assembly of the project Solidarity with South Sudan

The General Assembly of the project Solidarity with South Sudan met on November 28th at the General House of the De La Salle Brothers.

This project, which was born at the request of the Conference of Bishops of South Sudan, is promoted and supported by dozens of member congregations of the International Union of Superiors General (UISG) and the Union of Superiors General (USG) and by other organizations, including the Marist Institute, as well as FMSI and Sed. The aim of the project is to collaborate with the dioceses of South Sudan, through the development of 4 projects: Agriculture, Education, Health and Pastoral.

Marta Morotti and Angela Petenzi, from FMSI, and Brothers Cho Nchang (West Africa Province) and Ángel Diego García Otaola, director of the Secretariat of Solidarity-Cmi, joined the meeting. Br. Emili Turú also was present and was re-elected president.

The Institute of the Marist Brothers, since 2013, have an active participation in South Sudan. Br. Joseph Mammah Kwami, from the Province of Nigeria, is currently part of the project.
