Humanise our communities

As every year, the « Community Animators » (Superiors) of the Province of América Central, gathered at the Marist Formation Centre of Guatemala. But this time, we had the fortune of counting on the wisdom and experience of Brother Seón Sammon, our former Superior General. The theme, centred on COMMUNITY LIFE, offered us numerous keys for growing in HUMANITY and accepting and living fraternity as Consecrated Brothers.

For five days (from Monday 21 to Friday 25 January), in a magisterial fashion and with characteristic simplicity, Br Seán presented to us those aspects which ‘make the difference’ when we live them with creativity and openness to the future, somewhat uncertain in these times of crisis, but filled with hope.

In the course of the week, we reflected on the following topics : Religious Life today : where is it coming from ? Where is it going ? The dynamics of community life and the different stages in the life of a brother. How to deal with stress ? How to handle difficult people ? How to animate a community meeting ?

The subjects touched on and other details of community life enhanced by anecdotes and the situations experienced by Br Seán did ‘make the difference’ and light up in a special way our journey and mission as animators of community.

We wish to thank Br Seán Sammon sincerely for his presence and for the richness of his reflection and his experience. Thanks also to the Brothers who animated the times of prayer and the eucharists. May all this help us to HUMANISE OUR COMMUNITIES and ACCEPT AND LIVE THE GIFT OF FRATERNITY SO AS TO OFFER IT AS SIGN.
