In the footsteps of Marcellin

In the setting of the celebrations for the one hundred years? anniversary of continuous presence of the Marist Brothers in the Christian education of Greek youth, the Lycée Léonin de Néa Smyrni presented a theatrical play at the end of April.

The play ?In the footsteps of Marcellin? was written by the teacher of Literature, Mr Dimitris Papadimitriou, of the orthodox religion. It relates the important events of the first steps of the life of Saint Marcellin Champagnat until his death and accentuates the essential points of his pedagogy.

This play, in which ninety students participated, was performed five times at the Lycée Léonin de Néa Smyrni before an adult audience (twice) and an adolescent one (three times) ? a total of more than 2500 spectators.

On the occasion of the presentation of the play ?In the footsteps of Marcellin?, Brother André Déculty, Vicar Provincial, sent the following message on behalf of the Brother Provincial:
?Dear Young People, Dear Friends,
At the time that you are going to be together to experience an exceptional evening, in France some fifty brothers will be reflecting on their way of responding to the requests of the young people of this time in the way of Champagnat who is always very current. It is a very warm and fraternal greeting that we are sending you. We want first of all to congratulate the author of the text that you young people are going to perform: Mr Dimitris Papadimitriou. Thanks to your work, Saint Marcellin is going to take on a very real face and will be closer to everyone. We wholeheartedly encourage you, the actors who have been preparing this play for such a long time. May this closeness to Marcellin be able to guide you throughout all of your life! At the time of making choices in life or of direction, it will allow you to give them strength and meaning. May this spectacle be a success and lead to a renewed awareness of our holy Founder.
Our blessing goes with you. Fraternally yours.?
