Kumasi
The staff, Management, Pupil, Parents and friends of St. Marcellin Champagnat School, Buokrom Estate, Ghana on 4th June this year marked their 10th Anniversary Celebration in a grand style. The theme for the occasion was Catholic holistic education – the Marist way over the past ten year. The event which was also a graduation Ceremony of 72 pupils is part of the activities scheduled for this year feast of our founder, St. Marcellin Champagnat.
The four day Celebration began on 2nd June with a float through the principal streets of Kumasi amidst brass band music. A football match between the school and another school, Marist Preparatory & JHS characterized the event the following day. It was all fun when pupils as well as teachers competed among themselves. The climax of the event brought together several personalities in the Kumasi Metropolis including the Ashanti Regional Director of Education, District Chief Executive, Kwabre District, and the Traditional head of the area. From a cadet corps display, Cultural dance, Choreography to poetry recitation, the school showed to the public the contributions that they are making to the growth of the young people of Ghana as evidenced in the theme of the celebration.
A sod cutting ceremony for a two thousand capacity hall closed the activities of the day. This hall is to serve the purpose of provisional Chapel, Auditorium and Entertainment hall.
The decade celebration was concluded with a thanksgiving Mass in which some pupils received baptism (18) and first Holy Communion (49). It was a moment of thanksgiving to God for his protection over the school and to ask for God’s blessings for the school in the coming years.
St. Marcellin Champagnat School was established in 2001 to give educational opportunities to children and young people in Buokrom and its surrounding communities. The school which started with 35 pupils is currently blessed with 950 pupils, 33 teachers and 19 non-teaching staff.
The entire family of the St. Marcellin Champagnat is hereby grateful to parents and all those who have been part of our success story. May the good Lord bless your contributions that have brought us this far. Thank you.
