Letters of Marcellin – 302

Marcellin Champagnat

1839-11-28

This is the letter mentioned in the preceding one and dealing with the same subject.

Father,

On my last trip to Lyons, since I had the opportunity to see Fr. Cattet, vicar general, I spoke with him about the establishment which the town of Albigny requested of us a long time ago. He urged me to write to you to invite you to join your resources to those of Albigny, so as to provide the salary of two brothers who, while living in Neuville, would go to Villevert every day to teach the children of both towns. He finds that location perfectly suited to both localities, and it seems to me that in fact there is nothing better or more likely to guarantee the prosperity of this establishment. If you think it suitable, see if you can work out an agreement with the parish priest of Albigny. As for me, I will be very pleased to see your two parishes enjoying together the advantage of a single religious and Christian school.

I am, etc….
