Marist candidates in Baucau
Recently (16-27 June), the aspirants, postulants, and a couple of prospective candidates in Timor-Leste were involved in an intensive learning program to further improve their English language and music skills.
We were very fortunate to draw on the talents and skills of Brothers Brian Etherington and Michael Herry, who generously agreed to come from Australia to Baucau and give their time to work with the young men. Brian with teaching English and Michael with guitar and keyboard skills.
Apart from the formal lessons, the candidates enjoyed the opportunity of getting to know other Brothers from the Marist world.
Postulant Helio Ramos effectively summed up the heartfelt gratitude of the young men in his farewell speech to Brian and Michael when he said:
“Thank you for your patience, hard work and the care you have shown us through your teaching. You have presented to us the face of Father Champagnat. With all our hearts we thank you”.
