Marist Centre for Child Protection of the Marist Solidarity Network

The campaign “Defenda-se,” launched by the Marist Centre for Child Protection of the Marist Solidarity Network and promoted in the area of Brazil, was awarded at the fifth edition of “Neide Castanha Award 2015” under the category: the protagonism of children and adolescents.

The award values the outstanding initiatives in defense of the rights of children and adolescents, especially those that are aimed at combating sexual violence suffered by children in the country.

The award will be delivered on May 20 at 9:00 a.m. in Brasilia.

The campaign “Defenda-se” reinforces policies confronting the sexual violence suffered by promoting self-protection against sexual abuse and exploitation of children and adolescents through educational videos tailored to their age.

The videos illustrate everyday situations in which the child can defend himself, communicating the violence to someone he trusts or by directly getting himself in touch with channels of complaint.

The campaign has the support of the Marist Union of Brazil (UMBRASIL) and the Advisory of Institutional Communication of the Marist province Brasil Centro-Sul.

The series of those videos are available on the project’s website, along with documents on the fight against sexual violence and materials for communicating the subject to social media:  www.defenda-se.com.
