Marist Education Congress marks the start of the Marist centenary celebrations in Venezuela
As part of the celebrations of the Marist centenary in Venezuela, from April 3 to 5, the Marist Education Congress â100 years of Marist presence in Venezuela: A living heritage and a future to be recreatedâ was held at the Colegio de Nuestra Señora de ChiquinquirĂĄ, in Maracaibo.
Brother Ernesto SĂĄnchez Barba, Superior General of the Institute, accompanied this celebration, together with Brother Carlos Alberto Rojas Carvajal, Provincial, and the brothers of the Provincial Council. In addition, the brothers who make up the communities in this city, known as the Marist cradle of the country, participated.
The Governor of the state of Zulia, Manuel Rosales, attended the opening ceremony of the Congress and conferred the âLago de Maracaiboâ Order on the Marist Brothers and the school. In addition, the âRelĂĄmpago del Catatumboâ Order was awarded to prominent individuals linked to the educational institution.
The three days of pedagogical reflection were attended by educators from the different Marist schools in the city and others from Marist works in Venezuela.
These days of celebration culminated with the meeting of Brother Ernesto with the brothers of the Marist communities of the state of Zulia, who together attended the presentation of the play: âSabeĂs que no voy a estudiarâ (You know I’m not going to study), written and directed by Brother Ăngel GonzĂĄlez.
The children and young people present – together with the Brothers – were able to celebrate and commit themselves to continue together, âdawning with hopeâ.
