Marist formation houses in Haiti
The Marist Brothers of Haiti, who are part of the Province of MĂ©xico Occidental, have three formation houses in the country.
Postulancy House
In Aux Cayes in the South Department is the postulancy house. This stage, where the Marist adventure of formation begins, lasts for two years. The postulant hopes to arrive at a knowledge of oneself and of one’s personality and to make a discernment of one’s vocation.
The formation team of the Postulancy for 2019-2020 is made up of Brothers Wilguins Francois (Director), Gustavo Cerda and Oscar Paul-Louis. This year there have been 12 postulants.
Novitiate
In the Grand´Anse Department, we have the novitiate in Jeremie and a school community in Dame Marie. The novitiate is dedicated to our Mother of Perpetual Succour, Patroness of Haiti.
During the formation year 2019-2020 there were 8 novices of the second year and 5 of the first year. Now, from August 2020, there are 10 novices: 5 from the second year and 5 from the first year.
The novitiate formation team is made up of Brothers José Contreras Landeros, Rafael Alvarez Santana and Antonio Cavazos Bueno.
Scholasticate
In the video we share today, you can see the scholasticate in Port-au-Prince in the West Department. In it, we will meet the 8 scholastics in first year, the 5 scholastics in second year, the 3 scholastics in 4 year, as well as the 2 brothers who are accompanying them. We will also be given an idea of the different activities of the community.
