IV General Conference

As on previous occasions the General Conference returned to Rome (Italy) from 3rd to 17th October 1982, also under the generalship of Brother Basilio Rueda. 57 Brothers accompanied by fourteen members of the General Council attended as well as four Brothers especially invited by the Superior General.

This Conference was significant for the introduction, for the first time of the working method of see, judge and act.

The central theme revolved round the consideration of where and how we find ourselves apostolically and pastorally as an Institute. The revitalisation of the apostolic spirit in the Brothers, the apostolic quality of our scholastic institutions and the quality of discernment with which we carry out our apostolic options were the basic topics for reflection.
The Commission for Poverty and Justice presented a very opportune reflection on Father Champagnat and his love for the poor.
