Marist International Kumasi Novitiate

The novitiate of Kumasi, in Ghana, has 37 novices: The 22 newly received novices began the two years formation in September and other 15 novices strated their second year. Four formators fellow them in this step of formation: Br. Sylvain Yao (Novice Master), Br. Clement Nwadike, Br. Kevin Ngoran and Br. Obinna. The novices belong to the Province of Nigeria and to the District of West Africa.

Reception of the new novices

The clothing ceremony of the new 22 novices (15 from the Province of Nigeria and 7 from the District of West Africa), popularly known as reception of new Novices, took place on September 7th, 2019. During that celebration, the master’s postulants, Br Augustine Natey, called each new novice by name and all of them answered present. Representing the Superior, Br Sebastian Erong questioned the novices who declared their interest to begin their religious formation in the Marist ways of life. They were handed the religious habit and they left the chapel to be clothed. Within some few minutes they returned to the chapel clothed in immaculate white habits in a procession with lighted candles.

They were equally handed the Constitutions and Statues to study and meditate with it as well as Chaplets to remind them that they always had to pray.

The new Novices together with those present sang the Magnificat to express their joy with Our Good Mother and to God the Almighty for what he has done in their lives.
