2015-05-05 GENERAL HOUSE

Marist International Solidarity Foundation

The Evaluation Team of the Marist International Solidarity Foundation (FMSI ONLUS), met for the second time at the General House in Rome from April 17-19, after its first meeting in February. Its third and final meeting will be from May 26-29. It will then submit a report to the General Council of the Marist Institute during its plenary meeting in June.

The purpose of the evaluation is to assess it as a non-profit organization in preparation for its tenth anniversary as a Foundation in 2017 and assist it in its future planning. FMSI has offices in Rome and Geneva, and branches in Latin America and Asia.

When interviewed, Bro. Michael De Waas, its President, said “My hope is that the evaluation team will make some helpful and serious recommendations to improve our work in the Foundation so that we can make a very significant presence among poor children and young people in the world”. He underscored that having ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council) status with the UN  “gives us the facility to get involved with other agencies interested in children and their rights to achieve our purpose, taking a global leadership role in promoting children’s rights in the world”.
