Marist Spirituality Center inaugurated in Montevideo
A Marist Spirituality Center was inaugurated on December 8 in Montevideo, Uruguay, Province of Cruz del Sur. More than a hundred people attended the opening, which began with words of welcome by Brother Alberto Aparicio. The Provincial, Brother Horacio Bustos, accompanied the ceremony, with Brothers José Khun, Carlos Huidobro, Juan Walder and an outstanding team of professionals and technicians who made the Center a reality. It is a Marist place that integrates testimonies, messages, images, objects and significant moments of Father Champagnat.
During the event, Brother Horacio said: “We believe that this Center clearly expresses the need for a deep and incarnated spirituality. It was created to motivate and strengthen us so that we can bring to life the Marist Spirituality that we need to build and deepen as brothers and lay people together”. Read here, in Spanish, the complete message.
A visit to the center reveals six thematic rooms named: Uruguay Marista, De los Abrazos, Montagne, La Valla, El Pan del L’Hermitage and Sector Hermano Silvestre. Outside, there is a series of flat metal sculptures worked by the Uruguayan artist Giorgio Carlevaro with singular scenes of significant moments in the life of Champagnat, such as “Marcellin Shepherd of Sheep” or the “Memorare in the Snow” and even the face of the Founder and the Good Mother.
