Marist Union of Brazil
The Social Report of Marist Brazil 2016, prepared by the Marist Union of Brazil (UMBRASIL), is available, in digital format, at www.umbrasil.org.br.
The publication – which includes information from the provinces Brasil Centro-Norte, Brasil Centro-Sur, and Brazil Sul-Amazonia – demonstrates the social and economic impact of the three provinces and presents the main managerial data in the fields of education, solidarity, health, evangelisation, communication and publication.
Marist Brazil, with more than 29,000 Brothers, laity and collaborators in charge of the mission, stands out for its education, with 90 centres for basic education, which serve about 90,000 children and adolescents, and eight units of higher education with over 60,000 students.
“The information presented in the report provides a comprehensive vision of the performance of the Marist centres in Brazil and reinforces the commitment made 200 years ago by Saint Marcellin Champagnat in founding the Marist Institute,” said Brother Renato Silva, treasurer director of UMBRASIL.
Each year, the information is collected and evaluated by the Working Group of the Social Report, formed by representatives of the provinces and UMBRASIL. The joint and aligned work allows each new edition to fulfil the objective of consolidating and registering the characteristics, scope and impacts of Marist actions in society.
