Meeting at the Marist Asia-Pacific Center

The Marist Asia-Pacific Center (MAPAC), located in Marikina City, Philippines, was established in 1994 as a scholasticate dedicated to the post-novitiate formation of young Marist Brothers from the Asia-Pacific region. This formation center currently hosts 14 scholastics from East Timor (8 brothers), Vietnam (4 brothers), Cambodia (1 brother), and the Solomon Islands (1 brother). These young brothers are divided into two fraternities, Alfano and François, where they engage in a structured program of spiritual, academic, apostolic, and communal growth.

MAPAC Board

Recently, the MAPAC Board, comprising Brother Peter Carroll (Provincial of Star of the Sea), Brother Allan de Castro (Provincial of East Asia), Brother Nicholas Fernando (Provincial of South Asia), Brother Canisio Willrich (Superior of the District of Asia), and Brother Dominador Santiago (Rector of MAPAC), gathered to review and discuss the center’s formation program. General Councilors Brothers Ben Consigli and Josep Maria Soteras also participated on behalf of the General Administration.

During their visit, the board members met with MAPAC’s dedicated formation staff, which includes Brothers Jone Seduadua, Joseph Walton, Ray Arthur, and Devandasiri Fernando, as well as with the student brothers, encouraging open dialogue and gathering insights to enrich the brothers’ formation experience. They also toured the local communities where the student brothers engage in apostolic activities, such as Boys Town and the Kuya Center, which serve underprivileged youth.

A highlight of this gathering was the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Brother Jone Seduadua’s religious life, marking a silver jubilee of dedication to the Marist mission. “This milestone underscored MAPAC’s vibrant community life and its commitment to fostering dedicated Marist leaders for the future”, highlighted Brother Ben Consigli.
