Meeting of the Conference of the Superiors of African Continent in Antananarivo

The Provincials of the 5 Provinces of the African Continent met from 13 to 17 January in Antananarivo, Madagascar, for the annual meeting of the Conference of the Superiors of African Continent (CSAC). “This is already the third time that the CSAC has met in various Provinces of Africa: this change has helped to transform the group’s vision, knowledge of the reality, and the growing sense of a Marist African region,” said General Councilor Br. Óscar Martín, who participated in the meeting along with Br. Ken McDonald, liaison Councilors with the Africa Region.

The meeting discussed the progress of various regional commissions and reviewed and approved the new CSAC statutes. “Overall, it was a very successful meeting in which there was a strong sense of fraternity and a shared future”, said Br. Ken.

At the same time, a meeting of the provincial bursars of the Region was held. Part of the meeting of the CSAC included a joint meeting of the bursars and the provincials to discuss the financial sustainability of the region.

“The most important thing is the harmony of the Provincials of Africa and the great projects that are being developed in areas such as formation, mission and leadership,” concluded Brother Óscar.

The Provincials of Africa are Brothers Alphonse Tiamaro (Madagascar), Cyprian Bankakuu Gandeebo (West Africa), Emmanuel Mwanalirenji-Gunduloni (Southern Africa), Mark Omede (Nigeria) y Venceslas Baindekeli Beimoyato (Afrique Centre-Est).
