Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Marist International Network of Higher Education Institutions

The Executive Committee of the Marist International Network of Higher Education Institutions met via Zoom on 23 March at 17:00 hours in Brasilia. Manuir JosĂ© Mentges, Vice-Rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, President of the Committee; Br. David Hall, Dean of the Catholic University of Australia; and Br. Roberto MĂ©ndez LopĂ©s, Rector of the Marist University of QuerĂ©taro. Also present as guests were Br Luis Carlos GutiĂ©rrez Blanco, Vicar General of the Marist Institute, and Br Carlos Alberto Rojas Carvajal, Director of the Institute’s Secretariat for Education and Evangelisation.

The aim of the meeting was to discuss the work plan for the year 2021 and the next steps for the organisation of the Network Assembly, which was initially scheduled to be held in person at PUCRS (Brazil), from 18 to 22 May 2021. However, due to the pandemic situation, it will be held virtually on 18-19 May, .

Founded in 2004, the Network currently counts 26 institutions, acting in accordance with the premises of the General Administration of the Institute of the Marist Brothers in Rome. The Network is present in 12 countries and aims to strengthen networking, to produce knowledge in relation to the common themes of the universities and to promote exchanges of experiences between the institutions.

The Assembly, which will take place in May, will have as its main theme: Perspectives and challenges of Higher Education in the post-pandemic context. Its objective will be to deepen, reflect and propose actions related to internationalisation and networking, and to validate the work proposal of the Executive Committee. The event will be addressed to the main leaders of the participating institutions.
