Meeting of the Marist Life Area of the General Administration

The Marist Life Area of the General Administration, composed of the Extended Secretariat of the Laity (ESL) and the International Commission of Brothers Today (ICBT) convened at the General House from March 3 to 7. The gathering aimed to strengthen Marist Life at a global level, evaluate key initiatives from 2017-2025, and collaboratively envision the future of Marist Life and Vocations to present to the XXIII General Chapter. The group was accompanied by the General Councilors Brothers Óscar Martín, Sylvain Ramandimbiarisoa and João Carlos do Prado.

The first two days saw both groups working together, sharing updates on major initiatives: the Secretariat of the Laity highlighted the International Forum on the Lay Marist Vocation, while the Secretariat of Brothers Today presented the New Formation Guide. On the afternoon of March 4, the participants reflected on pertinent excerpts from the Document of the Synod on Synodality, fostering deep dialogue and insight.

March 5 brought a blend of spiritual and cultural experiences. The group visited the Instituto San Leone Magno, where they joined students in celebrating the Ash Wednesday rites. Later that day, they journeyed to the Vatican, crossing the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica, a moment of profound reflection and unity.

On March 6 and the morning of March 7, the groups met separately. The ESL delved into topics specific to the Marist laity, while the ICBT focused on themes relevant to Brothers Today. The meeting concluded in the afternoon of March 7 with both groups reconvening for a heartfelt closing prayer, marking the end of a fruitful and inspiring gathering.
