Meeting on Child Protection in México Occidental

Around 70 collaborators from the Marist entities of the Province of Mexico Occidental gathered in Guadalajara from January 29 to 31 to participate in the VI Provincial Meeting on Child Protection, organized by the Solidarity and Social Transformation Nucleus and the Child Protection Advisory Committee. The event served as a space to strengthen actions in favor of the rights of children, adolescents and young people, and to welcome a new stage in the leadership of child protection.

Over the course of three days, the 70 participants, representing 31 Marist works in Mexico Occidental, delved into issues related to guaranteeing the rights of children and adolescents. They also had the opportunity to exchange experiences, update their knowledge and strengthen their capacities to prevent and address situations of possible violation. Among the topics discussed were:

  • The importance of the protection and creation of safe spaces in the Marist Educational Communities.
  • Strategies for the adequate monitoring of protocols/attention to cases in the Marist Educational Communities.
  • Tools to identify risk factors and plan preventive intervention strategies in the Marist Educational Communities.

This meeting is in line with the Child Safeguarding Standards and Protocols Child Safeguarding Standards and Protocols – Manual for the Administrative Units, which contains Protocols and guidelines to help Provinces and Districts review and update their policies and ways of protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults. It is a reference that all Administrative Units should follow when reviewing and updating their policies on child protection management.
