New models of animation, management and government.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of brotherhood and collaboration, fostering closeness between persons and Provinces.
The meeting, organized by the General Council, was held in the Centre of Marist Spirituality in the city of Santiago de Chile on 28, 29, 30 April and 1st May. With the presence of Brothers José María Soteras and Eugène Kabanguka, and the co-ordination of the Secretariat of Mission, the Project Team and the ATKerney firm, the meeting allowed reflection on the central themes of our Marist life : animation, management and government. The work topics proposed placed the accent on the new way of being brother, the relationship with lay Marists and lay collaborators, the presence of many cultures in the Institute and the participation of persons, works and Provinces in the building up of an international Marist body.
The work dynamic involved the presentation of the situation of the different Provinces, reflection in general assembly, at work tables, as well as periods of work at the level of each Province. It was organised in three different sections : one of learning about the situation of each Province, another of analysing the situation and the present, and a last open to creativity and reflection on the future of the Marist mission in the world as an international body. The meeting also included a social evening for all thanks to the visit to a vineyard quite close to the city of Santiago, as well as the presence of two groups of musicians who entertained the participants with various pieces of music typical of Chile and Brasil.
This meeting is part of the programme of activities which the Secretariat of Mission has been carrying out throughout the Marist world to make known this project of the General Council and have the Provinces take part in it. On this occasion, the Provinces taking part were Brasil Centro Norte, Brasil Centro Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, the district of Amazonia, Nuestra Señora de Los Andes, Cruz del Sur and the district of Paraguay.
