Perpetual profession in the Norandina Province

Brother Hugo Alexander Tapia Bolaños made his perpetual profession in a Eucharistic celebration on Nov. 28 in the parish of Santa Teresita of the Carmelite Fathers in the capital of Colombia. 

Norandina’s provincial, Brother César Augusto Rojas, received his vows during the Mass celebrated by Father Wilson Durán, chaplain of Colegio Champagnat in Bogotá.

According to a statement from the province, “the scholasticate community and the Norandina province rejoice in sharing the joy of the perpetual profession of Br Hugo Alexander Tapia Bolaños.”

His parents, teachers of the Colegio Champagnat, fraternities of Bogota, religious of other communities as well as friends and brothers of several cities participated in the celebration.

Br Hugo was born in southern Colombia, in Sibundoy, in the department of Putumayo. He met the Marist Brothers through his parents, who attended prayer groups.

He entered the aspirant in 2005 in the city of Pasto and the following year, he entered the postulancy of Our Lady of the Hermitage in the city of Manizales.

In 2008, he entered the novitiate of La Valla in Medellin, and had Br Marco Antonio Vargas, of the Province of Central America, as director of novices.

On Dec. 8, 2009, he made his first vows in Medellin and in 2013, Br Hugo underwent a period of apostolic experience in the community of Brother Alfonso Segovia of the Santo Domingo neighborhood in Medellin.

In the beginning of 2015, he made the itinerary for the preparation of the perpetual profession in the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia, encouraged by Brother Rodrigo Cuesta of the Province of Central America.

He currently belongs to the community of the scholasticate Brother Basilio Rueda, and he is about to finish his undergraduate studies in theology at the Pontifical Xavierian University, a Jesuit university.

He also coordinates the ministry of the Saint Marcellin Champagnat pastoral and service center of the Casa Loma neighborhood in Bogota.
