The Rector of PUCRS, Br Joaquim Clotet, and the Vice-Rector, Br Evilázio Teiseira, have recently been inducted for a further term of office (2013-2016) by the Chancellor of the University, Archbishop Dadeus Grings of Porto Alegre. Among significant features of the current administration have been: strengthening international links in all academic disciplines; a substantial fostering of research; the inauguration of the Institute for the Brain of Rio Grande do Sul; the creation of a network for innovation, “Inovapucrs”; enlarging of the Scientific and Technological Park (Tecnopuc) including the “Tecnopuc” portal and the installations at Viamão.
As Brother Joaquim emphasised: “PUCRS aims at more than fostering teaching and research of great quality. We are not satisfied with training technicians and competent specialists: we have committed ourselves to forming citizens concerned for the common good, entrepreneurs who are aware of their responsibility for improving the society in which they live.”
