«Pontifícia Universidade Católica» of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)

To mark the ten years of the « Parque Científico e Tecnológico » (Scientific and Technological Park) of the PUCRS, a celebration was held on 30 August at Viamão. In the course of its ten years of existence, nearly six thousand new jobs have been created and 188 organisations set up. According to the University Rector, Br Joaquim Clotet, these ten years represent a great contribution to the  development of technologies of communication and information, the sectors of biomedecine, multidisciplinary research and neurosciences : tuberculosis, pharmacy, solar energy, nanotechnology and carbon uptake.

The pioneers in thePark, Dell and HP, collaborated in this event. Certain sectors of the field of the TIC concentrate in Tecnopuc their bases of research and development in Brasil. Attentive to this situation, other world « players » such as Microsoft, Accenture, Tlantic/Sonae and ThoughtWorks have been attracted. But it is not only the big organizations which set up there… Numerous young enterprises (startups) have been created on the basis of this movement, and having perceived the opportunity of developing alongside the big organizations, they have installed themselves at the Tecnopuc, thus contributing to the consolidation of this habitat of innovation. Other enterprises, small and medium, complete this varied ecosystem.

Wishing to contribute to the formation of organisations from the global viewpoint, the Tecnopuc has been equipped with a softlanding  programme, facilitating the access of partner enterprises in the countries concerned.

At present, the Tecnopuch has signed partnerships of internationalisation with 15 technological parks in 12 countries.
