Profession in Haiti

Saturday, 9th December, will remain a significant day in the Marist annals: the first perpetual profession of a confrère at Dame-Marie in Haiti.
In effect, after the stages of formation and seven years of temporary profession, Brother Frisnel Walter committed himself definitively ?to follow Jesus in Mary?s way?.
Last year, Brother Frisnel participated in the session for future formators at Nairobi; this year, he assumed the responsibility of the postulancy of Jérémie, where he accompanied a group of six young people on their vocational journey.

When our Brother Frisnel dedicated himself to the community through his perpetual profession, two young confrères, Brothers Frantzley Exama and Jourdin Méronville, made their first profession, encouraged by their ?older brother? in the pathway of Marist life, after their two years of novitiate at Medellín (Colombia ? Province of Norandina).
This celebration took place at Dame-Marie for several reasons. Firstly all three went to the school of Our Lady of the Nativity, first place of insertion of the Marist Brothers in Haiti; evidently, the majority of close friends of our young confrères come from this same area.

But there were more reasons. For several years, there has been a rather large group of young people ? boys and girls ? on their vocational journey: they wanted to be involved in the animation of this celebration. No doubt the event for them was a living testimony of the call of the Lord.
Our Brother Frisnel will continue the work of formation that he has started so well. As to our Brothers Jourdin and Frantzley, they will be involved for some months in a catechetical ministry before joining the scholastics of Mexico in order to follow their religious and academic formation at Guadalajara.

We invite all the confrères of the Institute to unite themselves to the Brothers of Haiti and the Province of Canada in order to thank the Lord for the gift of these three young men to our religious family. May the Virgin Mary and Saint Marcellin accompany them in their commitment, keeping their enthusiasm alive in the footsteps of the Lord and bring about a new Marist wave in the service of the Church and of the Haitian people.
